Review of 2016 – A busy year with a bunch of amazing events!

2016 started off with our annual members meeting. We elected Milena Geiger and Leonie Geigis as the new chairwomen and re-elected Stefana Bosse as Head of Finance of the Snehalayam e.V. Thanks to Patrick Boschkov and Deborah Buthmann for their fantastic leadership of the Snehalayam e.V. for the past two years!

Something for the soul!

After the success of our first yoga event held last September we held another class in January 2017. During the 90 minute vinyasa-yoga class we were instructed by the yoga teacher Anna Drewes  (www.annadrewes.com) and learned how to relax and energise our body. The event was particularly significant as the children living in Tojo’s Snehalayam also have yoga classes. The first session was held in the natural habitat of the Gleisdreieck Park in Kreuzberg, Berlin but for the second session we were lucky to be able to use the karate studio of Shingitai Kai e.V., for free! Thanks to Anna and the Shingitai Kai e.V., for a lovely event! We hope to have some more yoga classes later in the year!

To be on the ball

Over the past five summers we have held an annual beach volleyball and soccer tournament. This year more than 100 players joined the event and helped us to raise money for the children at Tojo’s Snehalayam. The generous donations we have received have meant that we can transfer money for school fees and food to India. We would like to thank all the fantastic organisers including the FC Internationale e.V., Ole Brandmeyer, Paul Bang, Büsra Aslan, Milena Geiger and Christoph Hampel.

Nowkoelln Flowmarket – We are loving it!

We were very excited to have our first stall at a Berlin flea market! Our team of volunteers set up the stall at Nowkoelln-Flowmarkt at the Maybachufer in Berlin. We sold clothes, handbags and art prints donated by some of our active members. Thanks to the volunteer stallholders and our members for their generous donations (http://www.nowkoelln.de/).

Rock the Barkett

Our fifth benefit concert was a great success! Such a memorable night! We would like to thank the awesome bands Skeleton Skies and Wild Tales. Not to mention the fantastic crowd!  We would also like to thank the team of the Barkett for their really yummy vegan chilli sin carne!

Thanks to Marc Douc (http://marcdouc.tumblr.com/) for some great photos too!
